This icon of the Angel Gabriel is a traditional Russian Orthodox image used at the Prosopon School of Iconology in New York City where I studied iconography. This is a wonderful icon to pray with during the time of Advent and Christmas, or as a gift to a newly expectant mother as the Angel Gabriel is celebrated as the angel who appeared to Mary at the Annunciation.
